Description: This is a hand colored print by the famous caricaturist James Gilray (13 August 1757 – 1 June 1815). He became very prominent for his witty and well executed caricatures of many aspects of life in Britain. This depicts an obviously troubled patient being bled from an antecubital vein into a pewter bleeding bowl, several of which can be seen in this section as well as typical bleeders of various forms.
