Name: Laryngoscope, and lamp set
Manufacturer: L. Mathieu

Description: 8“x 4“x 2.5” cased set containing 2 laryngeal mirrors with removable handle of ebony, lamp, which has a wick and fits on a stand. The reservoir is contained in the apparatus as part of the main piece with the wick. It is small and is reached by unscrewing the part with the wick adjustment screw and wick. The end of the large piece with the wick (that is the tube with the wick in it) is inserted into a tubular clamp in the lens holder and the light is reflected forward by a mirror behind it through the lens. Presumably a chimney would be used optionally. There is a hole above where the wick would be to allow one to be inserted. The bottom of the wick piece has expandable blades that would be used to hold the apparatus on some type of stand. Again, optional depending on the needs of the physician.. There is also an aural speculum and a bottle for some liquid labelled for the exam. The lamp is 5”, the reflecting device with lens is 3.5“x 2” and fits over the wick as described. This is a smaller version of a similar device, Tobald’s examining lamp..
