Category: Sphygmomanometer
Estimated Date: 1920
Name: Dr. G. Casal Tensionometer
Manufacturer: IMP, Vichy,France

Description: 2.5“d x 3/4” deep dial calibrated in CM of mercury. 0-30. The face reads the mnfr, inventor and has a winged symbol at the bottom am in a circle. A foot screws into the top that is 1 3/4” in diameter. This consists of a rubber footing that probably was a bulb but is hardened and flat. There is a rod inside that connects through a metal fitting with a rod in the dial and must have moved the needle when the bulb was pressed against the pulse. There is a strap to secure the device to the wrist in the style of the period. A hinged bracet on the back must have been used to hang it on something but the spring is missing. A very curious device because when secured on the wrist over the radial artery the scale would be upside down.
