Category: Dental Pre 19th Century Instruments
Estimated Date: 1800
Name: Tooth Extractor in Metal Box

Description: Lacquered metal box, 5.5“x 1.25“x 1” with hinged lid. Contains a straight, steel tooth key with simple turned wooden handle. Made of steel. The screw to hold handle in place is not original. Four extra keys to fit the instrument are included. There are some steel scoring on the shaft for design. Older tooth “keys” from the 18 th century like this one are straight handled. After that a rectangular bend was incorporated into the end. This reduced damage to adjoinint teeth.
